Bethpage Black to Host 2019 PGA, '24 Ryder Cup
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (August 13, 2013) - Multiple news outlets are reporting that Bethpage Black will host the 2019 PGA Championship and the 2024 Ryder Cup, confirming rumors that have been swirling for the past few months.
GOLFWEEK first reported this story on Monday and said the PGA of America could make it official as early as Tuesday.

"I think taking a major sporting event like the Ryder Cup to what I would arguably say is the greatest sports city in the United States in New York would be a phenomenal combination,” said PGA of America President Ted Bishop from Oak Hill Country Club, site of the 2013 PGA Championship. “It’s a mammoth venue, and you’ve got a lot of possibilities for infrastructure and being able to handle crowds and the stadium-golf concept. I could give you 100 reasons why I think Bethpage certainly is very high on our radar as it relates to a Ryder Cup.”
Now famous for the two U.S. Opens it hosted in the past 11 years ('02 won by Tiger Woods and '09 won by Lucas Glover) and Barclays events (2012, 2016), the Black has also been the site of three Met Opens, eight MGA/MetLife Public Links Championships, one Ike Championship, and one Carey Cup Challenge.
The vast layout and amphitheater setting around the greens could make for one of the more boisterous Ryder Cups in recent memory. And the U.S. could use all the help they can get, as they've fallen to the European side seven out of the last nine matches.
2024 is the next available open date in the states, as Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn., will host in 2016, followed by Whistling Straits in Haven, Wisc., in 2020.
