Three-way tie will force 18-hole playoff to determine winners of the 63rd MGA Father & Son Championship

GREENWICH, CONN. (August 12, 2013) – Today was the 63rd playing of the MGA Father & Son Championship and this year it was hosted by Greenwich Country Club in Greenwich, Conn. A total of 90 Father & Son teams competed in the Pinehurst format for a Low Gross prize for the amateur division as well as a Professional Division. There were also runner-up prizes for both categories as well as a Low Net prize.

 

For Low Gross amateur division it was a three-way tie at 1-under 70. There will be an 18-hole playoff to decide the winner, and the date and location is to be determined. It was Kenneth and Stu Kaufman of Westchester, Ken and Drake Ferriter of Winged Foot and James and Stephen Nicholas of Westchester all shooting the low gross of the day in the amateur division.

 

In the professional division taking home the trophy was Kyle Hardy of West Hills and Matthew Hardy of Mendham with a 4-under 67. Behind them by a stroke were Jack and Dan Powers of Aspetuck Valley, who shot a 3-under 68 earning them the professional division runner-up prize.

 

The Low Net prizewinner came down to a match of cards and it would be the team of Jeff and Jeffrey Schaller of Twaalfskill winning the trophy.
