MGA Foundation Outlines Rules Changes at Spring Seminar
Eastchester, N.Y. (March 16, 2005) - The Metropolitan Golf Association Foundation continued its Spring Education Series with the MGA/Met PGA Rules of Golf Workshop at Lake Isle CC in Eastchester, NY. It is the third in a series of educational forums, providing golf professionals and tournament committee members with the latest USGA rules updates for the 2005 season.
More than 90 Met Area golf professionals and club leaders listened as John Morrissett, USGA director, Rules of Golf, Jaime Conkling, PGA Tour tournament official, and Peter Mele, tournament director of the Barclay’s Classic, former the Buick Classic, presented and fielded questions regarding the recent changes to the 2005 Rules of Golf and its Decisions. Key issues centered on the PGA Tour’s “Pace of Play”, as well as “Player Responsibility”, a major issue with the USGA, in where the player is ultimately responsible for knowing, preventing and calling rules breaches.
