NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (May 20, 2006) – The Metropolitan Golf Association Foundation conducted the first of three annual youth clinics sponsored by MetLife on Saturday during the Sybase Classic at Wykagyl Country Club. Participants who attended the day’s activities came from across the Met Area, and included kids from LPGA/USGA Girls Golf of Newark, Renaissance Golf, Newark Youth Golf, New York City Parks Foundation, LPGA/USGA Girls Golf of New York and The First Tee of Bridgeport.

Prior to the clinic, these 75 local youths spent the morning watching some of the world’s best female professionals, including Paula Creamer and Annika Sorenstam, compete in the second round of the Sybase Classic.  Past MGA President Paul Dillon kicked off the clinic recognizing the work the MGA Foundation does to support junior golf and its relationship with MetLife. Head professional Kammy Maxfeldt of Birchwood CC in Connecticut led the clinic along with some of the Met Area’s top female pros, including Tish Certo of Willow Ridge, Roxanne Miner-Mitchell of Round Hill, Teri Hjelte of The Stanwich Club, Cindy Vaios of Ridgeway, Monique Thoresz of Westchester Country Club, and Sarah Stone of Trump National. The kids rotated around three stations and received pointers on the full swing, woods and pitching. The clinic also had a visit from MetLife mascot Snoopy, who was a big hit with both the kids and adults.
