Joan Placek, of Crab Meadow Ladies Club, fired a 4-over par 76 (37-39) to capture the 4^th annual WMGA/ MGA Women's Public Links Championship today at scenic New York Country Club in New Hempstead, NY.   Placek carded four birdies and captured her second trophy in the tournaments 4-year history.  "I played much better this year than when I won in 1999.  To win on a challenging golf course like this is really rewarding," the champion said afterwards.  Defending champion Jeannine Mondesando of Spook Rock finished second after shooting a six-over par 78 (37-41).  Seventy-four women competed with prizes awarded to the top five golfers in the gross division and for the winner of the net division.
