Team Summa and Romanello Succeed at the 23rd MGA Father & Son
Elmsford, N.Y. (August 7, 2012)– Knollwood Country Club hosted 85 teams Tuesday for the 23rd Father & Son Net Championship including the inaugural Professional Division. Joe and Mike Summa of Stanwich fired a 6-under 65 to become the 1st Professional Father & Son champions after they won a match of cards (back nine net total) over hometown favorites Mike and Bob Miller of Knollwood, who also shot a 65.
Taking the title as the 23rd Father & Son Net amateur champions with an 8-under 63 was Daniel and Daniel Romanello of MGA eClub - Conn. and Greneagles Golf Club, respectively. Right behind them in the runner-up position at 7-under 64 was the team of Robert and Jackson Kleinert of Stanwich. Wrapping up net scoring in 3rd place at 6-under 65 was Christopher and Eugene Slattery of The Link at Union Vale.
In addition to the net portion of the tournament, a prize for the gross medalist was given to Paul and Vincent Adimondo of Plandome for their 3-under (gross) 68.
This was the first time that Knollwood hosted the Father & Son Net Championship and its par 71 layout of 6,200 yards provided a great risk/reward course for the 23rd Father & Son Championship.
