And Then There Were 4; Kim Rallies To Make Semis
ST. JAMES, N.Y. (July 19, 2012) - 2008 MGA/MetLife Boys champion Peter Kim nearly blew a 2 up lead with two holes to play in his quarterfinal matchup against Stephen Pastore, but rallied to win on the 21st hole with a par to advance to the semifinals of the 95th Met Junior Championship. When play resumed Thursday morning after matches were called on Wednesday due to severe weather, Pastore made a strong charge that fell just short, as he was unable to go up-and-down on the par-3 third. Kim will meet Will Bernstein, who beat 2009 Boys Champion Mark Reilly 1 up in his quarterfinal match.
Scott Kim also won his quarterfinal match 1 up against Chris Gabriele to set up a pivotal showdown with Jerry Wall, who's had a brilliant tournament thus far. Wall took out Armando Olivieri 5 and 3 in his quarterfinal match.
