First Tee of Metropolitan New York holds Financial Aid Seminar

BRONX, N.Y. (March 10, 2012) - On Saturday, March 10, 35 participants from The First Tee of Metropolitan New York (TFTMNY) and their parents gathered at Mosholu Golf Course in the Bronx for a Financial Aid & Planning seminar as part of TFTMNY’s Path to College program. Designed to help high school students gain insight into the college application process, attendees received tips on the admissions, enrollment and financial aid processes from the Education Funding Consultants Association (EFCA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to successfully guiding families in college admissions decisions and funding solutions.

The information session was led by EFCA founding member Nancy Ziering, who provided participants with keys to reduce college tuition, ways to create a “competitive edge” for college admission and a “To Do” list for 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students to help them stand out in the eyes of colleges and universities. In addition, Ziering discussed the weight of standardized test scores and ways to determine financial aid eligibility.

“It is very important that young people today have the skills necessary to compete in the world,” said Ziering. “The world is far more challenging than it’s ever been and the tools to navigate this process are found through education.”

Supported by The First Tee of Metropolitan New York Young Benefactors, Path to College is a series of informative seminars that focus on educating participants on college preparation.
