Runs End at U.S. Women's Mid-Am
UPDATE (September 12, 2023) -- Catherine McEvoy of Riverside, Conn., and Alyssa Roland of Short Hills, N.J., had their runs in the 36th U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Championship come to an end, Tuesday, at Stonewall in Elverson, Pa.

McEvoy, making her first-ever U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur appearance, used a 4-and-3 victory over Kim Benedict of Bonita Springs, Fla., to make her way into the Round of 16. There, she ran into No. 2 seed and co-medalist Jackie Rogowicz of Yardley, Pa. Rogowicz made five birdies on the round -- one matched by McEvoy on the par-3 sixth -- and never surrendered a hole as she continued her strong play to eliminate McEvoy, 6 and 5.
In the Round of 32, Roland earned an impressive 4-and-3 victory over past champion Shannon Johnson of North Easton, Mass. In the afternoon, she faced Alexandra Austin of Burke, Va., in a back-and-forth match. Holes 2-4 were traded back and forth, with Austin taking two victories. However, Roland won Nos. 6-8 to capture a 2-up advantage. The see-saw battle continued as Austin won Nos. 9 and 11 to return the match to tied. Roland took the lead back with birdie on the par-3 15th, but Austin had one more charge in her, winning both 17 and 18 to earn the 1-up victory.
UPDATE (September 11, 2023) -- Alyssa Roland of Short Hills, N.J., and Catherine McEvoy of Riverside, Conn., earned victories in the 36th U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Round of 64, Tuesday, to continue playing at Stonewall in Elverson, Pa.

Roland, garnering the No. 25 seed, used a stretch of five wins in six holes to take a commanding 4-up advantage through 10 holes. While her opponent Chelsea Collura won Nos. 14 and 15, Roland won the par-4 16th to close out the 3-and-2 victory. Roland will square off against past champion Shannon Johnson of North Easton, Mass., teeing off at 7:50 a.m.
McEvoy, competing in her first U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur, won Nos. 1, 4, 5 and 7 to grab a 4-up lead over No. 18 seed Brook Graebe. Graebe trimmed the deficit to two through 13 holes, but McEvoy responded with wins on Nos. 14 and 16 to capture the 4-and-2 win. She faces Kim Benedict of Bonita Springs, Fla., at 9 a.m., Tuesday.
Two-time U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur runner-up Aliea Clark of New York, N.Y., is in the midst of a battle against Jamie Freedman of Miami, Fla., with the two tied through 16 holes. The match has been back and forth with just six tied holes and five won by each players.
Past champion Ina Kim-Schaad of New York, N.Y., came up just short in her opening round match, as Ireland's Aideen Walsh rallied to win three of the final four holes to take a 1-up victory.
After an earlier suspension of play due to weather, play was suspended due to darnkess at 7:22 p.m., Monday.

Aliea Clark of New York, N.Y. used a pair of 73s to advance, as the two-time runner-up looks to make yet another deep run in the championship. The 4-over total earned Clark the No. 19 seed in match play, putting her against No. 46 seed Jamie Freedman of Miami, Fla. They tee off at 2:30 p.m.
Alyssa Roland of Short Hills, N.J., turned in scores of 75-73 in stroke play qualifying, as she locked up the No. 25 seed. Roland is facing No. 40 seed Chelsea Collura of Wyandoote, Mich.
Meanwhile, 2019 champion Ina Kim-Schaad of New York, N.Y., posted scores of 74-75 en route to the No. 32 seed. Schaad is squaring off against No. 33 seed Aideen Walsh of Ireland, who competed for Golf Ireland in the 2021 Carey Cup matches.
Reigning Farrell women's champion Catherine McEvoy of Riverside, Conn., shot 82 on day one of stroke play qualifying, but bounced back with an impressive 1-under 70 in round two for one of just nine sub-par scores in the second round. The round led her to claim the No. 47 seed as she competes in her first U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur. She tees off at 1:10 p.m. against No. 18 seed Brooke Graebe of Yorba Linda, Calif.
Pendelton Bogache of New York, N.Y., was part of an 8-for-3 playoff for the final match play spots, but came up just short and was eliminated on the second playoff hole. Bogache, Kim-Schaad and McEvoy will all represent the MGA at the end of October in the 17th Carey Cup matches against Golf Ireland at Winged Foot.

2019 Champion Ina Kim-Schaad of New York, N.Y., will bring her experiene to the field. Kim-Schaad is a three-time WMGA/MGA Women's Met Amateur champion and in August won the Long Island Women's Amateur Stroke Play Championship at Bethpage State Park's Red Course.
Two-time U.S. Women's Mid-Am finalist (2022 and 2021) Aliea Clark of New York, N.Y, returns to the field looking to hoist the trophy. She reached match-play in the last two U.S. Women's Amateurs, most recently at Bel-Air Country Club, the home course of the UCLA golf team, where she played collegiately.
Catherine McEvoy of Greenwich, Conn., won the women's open division of the 2023 PGA National Club Championship at Sea Island Resort in February. McEvoy is a two-time Connecticut State Women's Amateur Champion and last fall, she became the inaugural women's champion of The Farrell.
Pendleton Bogache of New York, N.Y., was a top competitor at Georgetown University and was the stroke-play medalist at The Farrell in 2022. Kim-Schaad, McEvoy, and Bogache will compete on the MGA's Carey Cup Team at Winged Foot in October.
Amy Ding of New York, N.Y., will make her second appearance in a USGA event, after playing in the 2015 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship. Ding carded a 4-over 74 to earn medalist honors at Spring Brook Country Club and earn her spot at Stonewall.
Ellen Oswald of New York, N.Y. competed at St. John's University where she recorded several Top-10 finishes at various events.
Alyssa Roland of Short Hills, N.J. is a former individual Ivy League Champion at Yale University where she was First-Team All-Ivy.
Stroke-play qualifying takes place Saturday and Sunday, with the top 64 competitors advancing to match play. Following the Round of 64 on Monday, both the Round of 32 and the Round of 16 are scheduled for Tuesday. Quarterfinal and Semifinal matches follow on Wednesday, with the 18-hole championship match play taking place on Thursday, September 14.
