Christian Cavaliere of Katonah, N.Y., and past Met Amateur champion and MGA Player of the Year Stewart Hagestad of Newport Beach, Calif., were both exempt into the field. Cavaliere, the 2016 Met Junior champion and runner up in both the Ike and Met Amateur this year, earned his spot through his qualifying for the U.S. Open Championship, while Hagestad met several exemption criteria including his 2021 U.S. Mid-Amateur victory and as a competing member of the 2021 Walker Cup team. Both are no stranger to the championship, with Cavaliere making his fifth U.S. Amateur appearance and Hagestad a field-high 14th appearance. Among those 14 for Hagestad is the 2012 U.S. Amateur that also took place at Cherry Hills. Cavaliere enters the week leading the MGA's Player of the Year points race.

Fifteen-year-old Jack Chung of Greenwich, Conn., and Matt Lowe of Farmingdale, N.Y., shared medalist honors to collect the two qualifying positions at Garden City Country Club on June 29, both shooting 2-under 138s. Lowe, a past Ike champion and this year's MGA Public Links champion, is second in the current Player of the Year standings.

Nathan Han of Somers, N.Y., captured medalist honors by five shots at Haworth on July 10, posting a 12-under 132 score over the 36-hole qualifier. Jack Woods of Danbury, Conn., also qualified at Haworth, posting a 7-under 137 total.

Shane Bacon of Westport, Conn., secured his first U.S. Amateur start with a 2-under 142 at Bonnie Briar, while Cole Ekert of Chatham, N.J., and Luke Sample of New York, N.Y., advanced out of Essex County Country Club, where the finished as the lone two players under-par at 5-under 137 and 4-under 138, respectively.

Stroke-play qualifying takes place Monday and Tuesday, with the top 64 competitors advancing to match play. Following the Round of 64 on Wednesday, both the Round of 32 and Round of 16 are scheduled for Thursday.
