Theodorakis leads five Met Am qualifiers at Powelton

Newburgh, N.Y. (July 6, 2017) -- Max Theodorakis of Ridgewood (Conn.), led five qualifiers for the 115th Met Amateur Championship from The Powelton Club on Thursday. Competitors advance to the championship proper, August 3-6 at Laurel Links Country Club in Laurel, N.Y.

Theodorakis, a rising sophomore at Campbell University, registered five birdies on the day and scattered in three bogeys for a field-leading 2-under 68. The 2016 Met Junior runner-up took advantage of short par-fours on the first nine, carding birdies on Nos. 2, 6, and 7, plus adding another on the par-three 3rd.

Just one shot back and taking the final qualifying positions were Nolan Forsman of Winged Foot, Connor Daly of Siwanoy, Evan Grenus of Sterling Farms, and MGA eClub - Westchester/Fairfield member Vinay Ramesh, all with 1-under 69s.
