Qualifying: 120th Met Amateur Championship
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (June 5, 2022) -- Qualifying for the 120th Met Amateur Championship takes place at six sites throughout the Met Area between July 5 and July 25, as players aim to advance to the August 4 - August 7 championship at Fenway Golf Club in Scarsdale, N.Y. Upon advancing to the championship proper for the MGA's oldest championship, players will complete 36 holes of on-site qualifying with the top 16 advancing to match play.
The 36-hole championship match has provided memorable finishes in recent years, including Jack Wall's 2020 win at Bethpage Black, Matt Mattare's late surge for a 1-up victory at Laurel Links in 2017 and Stewart Hagestad's 38-hole victory over Ethan Ng in 2016 at Country Club of Fairfield.

July 5 - GlenArbor Golf Club, Bedford Hills, N.Y.
Matt Camel, Round Hill Club, and James McHugh, Pine Barrens Golf Club, finished tied for first with matching 72s at GlenArbor Golf Club to kick off the first day of qualifiers. With two qualifying spots remaining, plus ties, six players managed to finish at 1-over, 73, to all qualify for the championship. Tyler Lowenstein, MGA eClub - NYC, led the group with five birdies on the day to reach his plus-1 finish. Jack Morrell of Pelham Country Club, Ben Loomis of Winged Foot Golf Club, and Travis Hardman of Trump National GC Westchester, all had back and forth days but picked up four birdies each on their path to qualifying. Joining them is Adam Friedman of Sterling Farms Mens Golf Club and Daniel Oh of Eligo Club to round out the group heading to Fenway Golf Club.

July 5 - New Jersey National Golf Club, Basking Ridge, N.J.
William O'Neill of Spring Brook Country Club used his par-5 eagle and four birdies to propel him into first place at NJ National Golf Club, carding a 3-under 69. Garrett Kessler of Mountain Ridge Country Club and Pat Wilson of Hamilton Farm Golf Club found themselves tied for second, each shooting 2-under on the day and both qualifying two strokes below the cut. Thomas Collins, Essex County Country Club, used his 3-under back nine to offset two bogies on the front and boost him into a qualifying spot just before the three way tie for fifth including John Havay, High Bridge Hills Golf Club, Jack Sterbenz, Little Mill Country Club, and Lucas Artigliere, Rock Spring Golf Club - all qualifying at even par 72.

With heavy winds and thunderstorms in the forecast, play was delayed twice at Lake Success Golf Club on Monday. Concluding the day, 6 players shot 68 or lower to qualify for the 120th Met Amateur Championship at Fenway Golf Club. Jud Langille of Trump National GC Westchester carded 4 birdies helping him score 2-under 66 to finish first at Lake Success. MGA eClub - Long Island member Jacob Mrva and Douglas Beney of Westchester Country Club tied for second shooting 1-under 67. Erik Stauderman of Casperkill Golf Club, MGA eClub - Long Island member Andrew Jurasits, and Drew Mulcahy of Baltustrol Golf Club shot even par 68 to take the remaining qualifying spots.

July 19th - Harrison Meadows Country Club, Harrison, N.Y.
Patrick Ryan of Essex County and MGA eClub - Connecticut member Chris Flowers used rounds of 2-under 70 to share medalist honors at Harrison Meadows. Ryan carded five birdies in his round to punch his ticket, while Flowers tallied an eagle and four birdies on the day en route to his 70. It took stellar play to advance as the remaining four qualifiers, including past match play competitor Dean Greyserman of Hamilton Farm, carded rounds of 1-under 71 to advance.

July 19th - Colonial Springs Golf Club, Farmingdale, N.Y.
Samuel Glogower of The Seawane Club carded the only even-par round of the day, using an eagle and four birdies to secure the top spot. Behind Glowgower, Jack St. Clair of Sands Point and Daniel Abbondandolo of Brookville both tallied 1-over 73s. Additionally, Ethan Lee of Colts Neck, Turner Foster of Maidstone, Matt Rawitzer of Young Benefactors Golf Club, Joe Ferrone of Nassau Players and Matt Simon of Friar's Head all advanced to Fenway behind 4-over 76s.

July 25th - Metuchen Golf & Country Club, Edison, N.J.
Wanxi Sun, Fiddler's Elbow, shot one of only two scores below par to secure his spot in the Met Amateur, shooting a 3-under 69, at Metuchen Golf & Country Club. The entire field battled through a weather delay but Sun kept his composure and carded six birdies on the day to be the first to qualify. He was followed by Jose Ramirez of NJ National Golf Club, who managed to finish below par as well at 1-under 71. Robbie Herzig of Old Oaks Country Club and Andrew Giuliani of Trump Golf Links Ferry Points both finished the day with three birides and three bogeys, landing them in a tie for third at even par. A par putt on 18 earned Rhett Sellers, Fiddler's Elbow, the final qualifying spot, tying Giuliani and Herzig at even par.
