Chung defeated Zachary Munno of Stamford, Conn. 2 & 1 and Pasternak edged Lucas Rizo-Patron of Rye, N.Y. 3 & 2. Pasternak is the final for the second straight year, losing to Barnes Blake last year at Echo Lake. It would be the fourth time in five years that the previous year’s runner-up won the next year—Will Celiberti (2019), Luke Sample (2020), and Hiller (2022) all accomplished the feat.

Pasternak took control of his match early, building a 4-up lead after eight holes. Rizo-Patron won the par-4 10th with a birdie and the par-4 13th with a par to get back within two. Pasternak immediately responded by winning No. 14 to restore a 3-up lead. Pasternak closed the match on the par-5 16 with a bogey after both players had to take a penalty stroke on their third shots.

Chung never trailed against Munno. The 16-year-old led 1-up three times on the front side. The players halved the first five holes of the back nine before Chung took a 2-up lead with a birdie on the par-4 15th. Chung 2-putted for par on the par-3 17th to close out the match and advance.

Sunningdale last hosted the junior in 1938, when William Clark won 3 & 2 over Wilson H. Flohr. A host of architects have left their mark on the layout, from Seth Raynor, Walter Travis and A. W. Tillinghast to Stephen Kay and most recently Mike DeVries. Recent work has included the updating of greens and bunkers.
