ELMSFORD, N.Y. Each year, the field gets deeper and deeper as more decorated players in the Met Area reach their 50th birthday and become eligible to compete. This year, six players make their first attempt at the championship, including two-time MGA Mid-Amateur winner Niall Handley of Rock Spring and 2003 Met Amateur champion Michael Stamberger of Manasquan River.

These accomplished players join an already outstanding field of competitors, with this year's field including 10 past Lexus MGA Senior Open Championship winners and eight winners of the Met Open Championship. Through the years, seven players have captured both titles, with Bobby Heins, Darrell Kestner and Jim McGovern all in the field in 2022.

Players will be competing to have their name etched into the championship's sleek platter along with the $5,000 winner's share up for grabs.
