Gibbs Victorious in MGA/WMGA Women's Public Links

STAMFORD, Conn. (May 24, 2023) — MerriLyn Gibbs, a Brooklyn resident, emerged victorious as the champion of the 25th MGA/WMGA Women's Public Links Championship at Sterling Farms Golf Course.

Representing the LPGA Amateur Golf Association - NYC, Gibbs shot 5-over 41 on her opening nine, which was highlighted by three birdies. She played more consistently on the back nine, adding one more birdie to close in 39 and turn in an 8-over 80 for the day.

Her four birdies and seven pars led her to a two-shot victory over MGA eClub - NYC member Christina Legge. Looking ahead at the summer, Gibbs is eager to play in more events and hoping to continue her success through the season. USGA/MGA Golf Club member Kaitlyn Brown rounded out the top three with a 2-over 84.

Christina Legge won the net portion of the event with a 1-over 73 net score.
