Duo of Mark & Ben Loomis claim the 74th Father & Son Championship
Princeton, N.J. (August 12, 2024) The 74th MGA Father & Son Championship saw Mark and Ben Loomis of Winged Foot Golf Club take the Championship division at Springdale Golf Club. The duo bested a competitive field by shooting a 7-under 64. This was good enough to claim the championship and division by a single shot.
The day started off strong for the duo, after several pars to start the round, they would make eagle on the par 5, fourth. They would continue the momentum adding back-to-back birdies on the sixth and the seventh. They would close out the front side with a par on the ninth to open with a 5-under 30.After making the turn they would add three birdies to just one bogey which came in on the sixteenth hole. Finishing just one-shot back was the duo Peter and Dave Scialabba of Meadow Brook Golf Club. The duo fired a 6-under 65 which included 6 birdies.
Claiming the top spot in the Net Division was Craig and Ryan Brewer of Southward Ho Country Club. The duo shot an impressive 9-under par which included two eagles. The Professional Division was won by Dan and Tim O’Rourke of Oak Hill Golf club after shooting a 6-under 65.
Lastly rounding out the divisions, our second-place finishers Dave and Peter Scialabba took home the Long Island Championship and our Westchester Champions are Ben and Mark Loomis.
