Dennis Lynch, Ethan Ng medal in opening Met Am qualifiers
ST. JAMES, N.Y. (July 5, 2016) – Qualifying for the 114th Met Amateur Championship began today at Nissequogue Golf Club, where just four qualifying positions (plus ties) were up for grabs out of a starting field of 71. Four players punched their ticket to the championship that will be hosted by Country Club of Fairfield in Fairfield, Conn., August 4-7.

Two-time MGA Mid-Amateur champion Dennis Lynch of Nassau Players earned medalist honors with a stellar round of 3-under 69, in which he carded 3-under on the front nine while shooting even par on the back nine.
Coming in close behind with qualifying scores of 2-under 70, were Christopher White of Garden City Golf Club and Michael Miranda of Pine Ridge.
William Rand of East Hampton grabbed the last qualifying spot with a round of 1-under 71.
Nissequogue played to a par 72 at 6,538 yards.

BRIDGEWATER, N.J., (July 5, 2016) - Raritan Valley Country Club gave way for eight qualifying positions (plus ties) for the 114th Met Amateur Championship. Nine competitors advanced from the 139 man field, with Ethan Ng of Fiddler's Elbow Country Club earning medalist honors at 3-under 69.

Players took advantage of ideal early scoring conditions, as seven of the nine qualifiers teed off before wind and temperatures rose. Ng's round included 15 pars and three birdies as he turned in the only bogey-free scorecard of the day.
Dawson Jones of MGA eClub - New Jersey, Scott Kim of Darlington, Brett Cooper of Seawane G&CC, and Johnson Ko of Bethpage followed with rounds of 2-under 70 to also advance to the Country Club of Fairfield.
At 1-under 71, Zach Egermayer of White Beeches, Sam Goldenring of Brooklake, Nick Desai of Baltusrol, and Eric Ganshaw of Tamarack rounded out the qualifiers.
Raritan Valley played to a par 72 at 6,679 yards.
Three more sectional qualifying rounds will take place before the championship. Additional qualifying for the Met Amateur will be held on July 11 at Edgewood Golf Club in River Vale, N.J., July 12 at West Hills Country Club in Middletown, N.Y., and July 18 at Pelham Country Club in Pelham Manor, N.Y.
