2016 Caddie Academies a Success
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (April 20, 2016) - This year’s Caddie Academies saw record turnouts with nearly 400 participants coming out to clubs from all over the Met Area. Each two-hour seminar covered topics ranging from course etiquette and raking bunkers to proper clothing attire and equipment. At the end of the session caddies are awarded certificates that they can show to caddie managers in the area when they begin to look for a job. They are also given pamphlets, a hand signal sheet, Rules books, and a list of contacts so they are equipped and ready to start their caddie career.
Once again, the best clubs in the Met Area hosted this year’s caddie academies. Long Island locations included Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove, Meadow Brook Club in Jericho and Rockaway Hunting Club in Lawrence. Sessions in New Jersey were hosted by Hackensack Golf Club in Oradell, and Echo Lake Country Club in Westfield, while Westchester residents were able to go to Westchester Country Club in Rye, Bonnie Briar Country Club in Larchmont or Fenway Golf Club in Scarsdale. Finally, The Stanwich Club in Greenwich, CT was host to over 70 participants. The success of this year’s Caddie Academies are just another way that the MGA and the MGA Foundation are helping to grow the game of golf and maintain its valuable traditions.
