Nicholas, McHugh Meet in Championship Match of 98th Met Junior
NEW CITY, N.Y. (July 16, 2015) - James Nicholas and James McHugh each earned 3 & 2 wins in semifinal play of the 98th Met Junior Sponsored by MetLife as the final day of play began this morning at Paramount. Neither competitor trailed in their semifinal match, and the pair now meet at 12:30 p.m. in the championship match.

Nicholas, of Scarsdale, N.Y., won his first three holes of the match and never looked back in his win over Chris Yeom of New Hyde Park, N.Y. His advantage grew to as much as 4-up following a par on the par-4 6th hole. Yeom won the final two holes before making the turn to cut the deficit in half. Nicholas' lead returned to three up after another winning par on the par-3 13th, and the match would finish as the pair halved the next three holes.
McHugh, of Rye, N.Y., also benefitted from a quick start, winning three of the first five holes to take command over Ethan Ng of New York City. McHugh also pushed his lead to 4-up, but Ng won the first three holes after the turn and closed his deficit to just one. McHugh remained steady and won the next two holes with par though, and took the win after halving the next two holes.
