Ito leads in stroke play portion of 98th Met Junior Sponsored by MetLife
NEW CITY, N.Y. (July 14, 2015) – The morning round of the 98th Met Junior Sponsored by MetLife is complete at Paramount. The A.W. Tillinghast course proved to be a stern test to the field of 67 competitors, as Brent Ito of Ardsley, N.Y., leads the field with a 1-over 71. Following the 36 holes of stroke play, the top 16 players will advance to match play for the final two days of competition.

Ito carded three birdies, but also had four bogeys mixed in during his first round of play. The 16-year-old claimed the MGA/MetLife Boys title last year.
Matthew Bettino of Bronxville, N.Y., is just one shot back after a morning 72, while Nathan Han of Somers, N.Y., recorded a 73.
A trio of 74s follow, as Harrison, N.Y.’s Jake Trotta, Ethan Ng of New York, N.Y., and Jack Wall of Brielle, N.J., are still within striking distance for top seeds for the match play portion.
The second and final round of stroke play is underway to decide the 16 advancing positions. The format will then be match play for the remainder of the tournament, with a champion scheduled to be crowed on Thursday.
