Ethan Ng of New York, N.Y., is one of the top players heading to Gardiner’s Bay, holding the No. 1 seed. Ng, 15, was a quarterfinalist at last year’s Boys and advanced to the semifinals at the 2015 Met Junior. Following an appearance at the U.S. Junior Amateur, Ng tied 11th at the Carter Cup at Baltusrol. Ng’s busy summer continues this week, as he represents the MGA at the Williamson Cup—a junior competition amongst 10 golf associations throughout the Northeast and Canada—at Saucon Valley Country Club before competing in the Boys.
Nathan Han of Somers, N.Y., brings more young talent to the field. Han, 14, qualified for the 2015 Junior PGA Championship after winning the Metropolitan Junior PGA Championship. Han also advanced to match play at the 2015 Met Junior and finished tied 16th at the Carter Cup. Han is matched up against Nolan Forsman of Larchmont, N.Y, in the opening round. Forsman was also a competitor in the recent Carter Cup.
Meanwhile, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.’s Erik Stauderman will look to build upon his performance at last year’s Boys, where he advanced to the semifinals thanks to a pair of victories. Andrew Chi of Huntington, N.Y. is also making his second straight appearance in the championship.
Joseph Tammaro of West Islip, N.Y., will also have a busy week, competing in the Metropolitan PGA’s Junior Classic before taking on match play in the Boys.
Additionally, Gardiner’s Bay Junior Club Champion Matthew Feinstein will look to utilize his knowledge and experience at the club to challenge for the title.
The MGA will provide live scoring through its website, www.mgagolf.org. The opening round will feature 9-hole updates, while hole-by-hole scoring will be available for the matches throughout the remainder of the championship.
