Cameron Young Heads to Scotland for Junior Ryder Cup
UPDATED: 10:33 a.m. (September 24, 2014) - For the fourth straight time Team USA won the Junior Ryder Cup this past week and now holds of 5-3-1 edge all time in the competition's young history. The team went to Scotland where the Ryder Cup will take place this weekend and won in dominating fashion 16-8 over Europe's junior team.
Representing the Met Area was Cameron Young of Scarborough, N.Y., who opened up day one playing alongside Davis Riley in foursomes and they paired nicely, winning 1 up with a birdie on the 18th hole. In the afternoon on day one in the fourball matches, Young and his partner Sierra Brooks struggled and lost 6 & 4, but Team USA held a 7 1/2 to 4 1/2 lead at day's end.
On day two Cameron halved his singles match after trailing 3 down through 8 holes.

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (September 19, 2014) - This year's U.S. Junior Ryder Cup team is set and ready to head to Perthsire, Scotland to take on Team Europe at Blairgowrie Golf Club next week, September 22-24. The event takes place days before the main event at Gleneagles just 40 minutes away, where Tom Watson's Team USA will take on Paul McGinley's Team Europe.
USA's Junior Ryder Cup team is loaded with young talent and representing the Met Area is Cameron Young of Scarborough, N.Y. Young is no stranger to the national scene, as he was a quarterfinalist at this year's U.S. Amateur and he also teed it up in the U.S. Junior Amateur. The 17-year-old hopes to bring his red-hot game to Scotland to lead the team to retain the cup. The future Wake Forest Demon Deacon tied for 7th at this year's Met Open and was a medalist at his U.S. Amateur sectional qualifier.
