Hollow Brooks Hosts Met Open Qualifier
CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y. (July 29, 2014) – A field of 78 golfers played at Hollow Brook Golf Club today at the Sectional Qualifying Round for the 99th Met Open Championship, with hopes of being one of the 8 golfers (plus ties) to qualify. The field was playing for a chance to compete in the championship at Trump National - Bedminster on August 19-21.
Sharing medalist honors were two amateurs, Jonathan Renza of Mohansic and Brian Flanagan of Rye GC, both carding rounds of 2-under 69. Renza is having one of his best seasons yet, winning the Westchester Am and finishing in the top-10 in the MGA Public Links Championship, the Mittelmark, and the Hochster.
Coming in tied for third with rounds of 1-under 70 were Tony DeMaria of Fairview and Charles Meola of Saxon Woods.
Finishing their rounds with even scores of 71 were amateur Colby Lewis of Mansion Ridge, Mark DeLaura of Montammy and Chris Scialo of Paramount.
Rounding out the qualifiers were Jim Wahl of Whippoorwill, James Ondo of Apawamis, Paul Dermot Griffin of Tam O'Shanter, all with scores 1-over 72.
Hollow Brook Golf Club played to a par 35-36-71 at 6,729 yards.
