MGA to Offer Comprehensive Rules of Golf Educational Programs for Member Clubs
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (March 28, 2014) – The Metropolitan Golf Association announces it will be offering comprehensive Rules of Golf Educational Programs for its member clubs beginning this spring. The goal of the educational offering is to enable golfers of all skill levels to increase their understanding of how the game is played and governed under the Rules and by doing so, will enhance their enjoyment as well.
“The MGA receives hundreds of requests each year for information on various aspects of the game of golf – one of the most frequent is for information on the Rules of Golf and related subjects,” said MGA Managing Director, Rules, Competitions and GHIN Services, Brian R. Mahoney. “This educational initiative provides member clubs the opportunity to expose their membership to the intricacies of the game and make them comfortable with not only the basics, but also at an advanced level of Rules knowledge.”
The current educational offerings will cover basic concepts and common situations that golfers typically encounter during the course of play and includes the following:
- What To Do If Your Ball Lies in a Bunker – Do’s and Don’ts
- What To Do If Your Ball Has Interference – Basic Relief Procedures
- What To Do If Your Ball Lies in a Water Hazard – Relief Options
- What To Do If You Can’t Find Your Ball – Searching For And Identifying
- What To Do If Your Ball Lies on the Putting Green – Do’s and Don’ts
There are various presentations that can be packaged as one or two-hour programs, conducted entirely indoors, and they can be specifically tailored to meet the needs of any of our MGA member clubs.
