Buckley & Wilson at the Australian Master of the Amateurs
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (January 6, 2014) - Two of the Met Area's best players, Max Buckley and Cameron Wilson, will square off against some of world's finest amateurs at the Australian Master of the Amateurs beginning on Tuesday, January 7th at Royal Melbourne Golf Club (West Course).
The championship is ranked as one of the top Australian amateur events and is recognized by the R&A as one of the top 30 amateur events in the world. The format is 72 holes of stroke play without a cut.
Buckley, whose father Ian is a native Australian, spends a portion of his winters in Oz every year and will be competing in his second consecutive Masters (He tied for 37th in 2013). The 2013 MGA Player of the Year seems to be at the peak of his golf game, claiming four championships in 2013 alone.
Wilson, a 7-time MGA champion, is currently ranked No. 27 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and is a standout senior on the Stanford University golf team. He captured his second consecutive Ike championship last June and nearly won the Met Open and Westchester Open (lost both in playoffs).
We'll provide scoring updates throughout the championship on mgagolf.org as well as all our social media platforms.
