Young Benefactors Host 19th Hole on the Park
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (April 14, 2014) - The First Tee of Metropolitan New York's Young Benefactors hosted the 5th annual 19th Hole on the Park event at the New York Athletic Club in New York City on Friday, April 11. The event, presented by Brooks Brothers, benefits TFTMNY's Path to Success program, which is a series of events and seminars designed to help high school gain insight into the college application proccess as well as career preparation.
More than 300 people attended the Masters-themed night which featured an extensive silent auction, Masters coverage and a 50-foot putting green throughout the room in which attendees tested their skills on throughout the night. The main highlight of the night, however, was hearing from The First Tee Outstanding Participant Award winners Brittany Ferrante and Patrick Conte. Brittany and Patrick, both long-time participants of First Tee programs, spoke about their experiences and future goals, and were awarded scholarships from the Young Benefactors.
A special presentation was also made to recognize the MGA's own Kate Keller, a co-founder of the Young Benefactors and an instrumental person behind the planning, support, and execution of all of the group's initiatives and events. The Young Benefactors created the Kate Keller Young Benefactors Founder Award that will be given annually in recognition of extraordinary dedication and service to The First Tee of Metropolitan New York's Young Benefactor Organization.
All of the proceeds from the event are donated to The First Tee of Metropolitan New York's Path to Succes Program, and the Heckscher Foundation for Children, a main supporter of the event, matched 100% of the contributions.
The annual event is run by the Young Benefactors, a group created in 2008 by co-founders Kate Keller, Ned May & Michael Rudin with the goal of creating a network of young professionals who are dedicated to the mission of the First Tee. The Young Benefactors hold funraising events, participate in community and volunteers efforts, and broaden awareness throughout the New York Metropolitan Area about such initiatives.
