Dawson Jones Medals at Final Ike Qualifier
COLTS NECK, N.J. (May 28, 2013) – Dawson Jones of MGA eClub – N.J., shot an even-par 72 at the Ike Sectional Qualifier at Trump National - Colts Neck on Tuesday, May 28 to win medalist honors. Jones, a sophomore at Howell High School in Howell, N.J., led the field of 156 players, 20 of which qualified for the Ike Championship at Wykagl Country Club in New Rochelle, N.Y., on June 24 and 25.
The early tee times proved to be the coveted ones, as rain didn’t begin to fall heavily until the afternoon hours. In the morning wave it was Brandon Davis of Bayonne, Ethan Wall of Manasquan River, Michael Cherello of Spring Brook, Ryan Snouffer of Panther Valley and Jacob Stockl of MGA eClub – N.J., who came in with 2-over 74s. The cut came at 3-over 75.
But the afternoon rainfall didn’t stop a few players from putting up goodscores. Louis Bodine of Copper Hill, Jeremy Quinn of Panther Valley, Greg Angelillo of Baltusrol, Jim Dufficy of The Links at Union Vale and James Nicholas of Westchester, also fired 74s to qualify.
Rounding out the players that will compete at Wykagyl are Nick Desai of Baltusrol, Stu Kaufman of Westchester, Arthur Painvin of Piping Rock, Paul Ulanich of South Shore, Michael Marotta of South Shore, Ryan Siegler of MGA eClub- N.J., Ryan Rose of Ridgewood, John Lay III of MGA eClub- N.J. and Cory Wilson of Panther Valley, all of which shot 3-over 75 to qualify.
