Crisp, Miller Honored at Annual Meeting & Dinner

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (December 6, 2012) - Missy Crisp and Mike Miller were among those honored at the Metropolitan Golf Association's Annual Meeting and Dinner on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at Westchester Country Club. Over 225 club representatives, committee members, volunteers and champions from around the Met Area attended the event, where Crisp received the MGA Distinguished Service Award and Miller accepted his second consecutive MGA Jerry Courville Sr. Player of the Year Award.

"I'm truly humbled, truly in awe by this award," Crisp said. "I guess what really blows my mind the most is the fact that I'm being honored for something that I really, really enjoy doing. It's been a tremendous amount of fun."

Crisp, 71, has dedicated more than 25 years of volunteer service to the game. She served the USGA Executive Committee for seven years, including as Treasurer from 2004 to 2005 and Secretary from 2006 to 2008, becoming only the second woman to move into those ranks.

Miller gave special thanks to his family and Knollwood Country Club (where his father Bob is the pro) for allowing him to practice at their facility. The 20-year-old now has his sights set on making the 2013 Walker Cup Match being contested at National Golf Links of America next September. He'll try to impress captain Jim Holtgrieve at a special Walker Cup practice session from Dec. 19-22 down in Florida.

Also during the evening, several new MGA officers were elected including Jeffrey R. Holzschuh of Winged Foot and Stanwich, who will serve a one-year term as President (replacing Gene Bernstein who held that position for the past two years). In addition,  Stephen F. Boyd of Baltusrol Golf Club as Vice President,Michael J. Sullivan of Garden City Country Club as Treasurer and Tod D. Pike of the Apawamis Club as Secretary.
