Wagner & Bradley Advance in FedEx Cup

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (September 13, 2011) - As the third leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs kicks off this week with the BMW Championship just outside of Chicago, Johnson Wagner and Keegan Bradley find themselves right in the mix in the PGA Tour's postseason. This week's tournament features the top 70 players in the FedEx Cup Point Standings, and both Wagner and Bradley had victories on Tour this season that helped propel them up the standings list.

Wagner, who grew up playing junior golf in the Met Area, was victorious in a playoff at the Mayakoba Classic in February, giving him his second victory on Tour. Bradley, in his rookie season on Tour, won the HP Byron Nelson Classic in May and the PGA Championship in a playoff in August during his first-ever major championship appearance.

Bradley, a 2008 graduate of St. John's University, has burst onto the PGA Tour scene in 2011 and has not only entered the conversation as PGA Tour Rookie of the Year, but Player of the Year. He currently stands 19th on the FedEx Cup points list and with a solid finish at the BMW, can play his way into the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Ga., September 22-25, which is made up of the top 30 players in the points standings.

Wagner, a five-time MGA champion and namesake of the "Wagner Slam," currently sits 67th on the points list and needs a top finish this week to earn a spot in the Tour Championship. While this season has been a success for both of these players, it was especially significant for Wagner, who finished 126th on the Tour money list a year ago, earning him conditional status on the PGA Tour this season with a limited number of starts. The win in February secured full Tour status for the Virginia Tech graduate for the next two seasons. Wagner is also the pupil of two-time Met Open and MGA Senior Open winner Bobby Heins, the head professional at Old Oaks Country Club in Purchase, N.Y. Read about Wagner and Heins' relationship here.

Bradley is paired with David Toms and Charles Howell III for the first two days of the BMW while Wagner is paired with Ernie Else. Full pairings for the BMW Championship can be found by clicking here.
