Young Benefactors Host Master-ful Fundraiser
Friday, April 8 - ELMSFORD, N.Y. – On Friday, April 8, The First Tee of Metropolitan New York (TFTMNY) Young Benefactors hosted its second annual Masters week event, 19th Hole on the Hudson, held at the Chelsea Brewing Company at Chelsea Piers in New York City. The event benefited TFTMNY’s Mentoring Program and more than 200 people were on hand for a Masters-themed night featuring silent auction items, hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and dancing. Net proceeds from the evening totaled more than $33,000 through a combination of admission, raffle ticket sales and bids on 42 silent auction items, which included tickets to sporting events and Broadway shows, as well as foursomes at various MGA member clubs including Friar’s Head, Maidstone, Hudson National and Deepdale.
“The amount of support was incredible and we got really positive feedback from all those who were able to attend,” said event chair Michael Rudin, a member of both TFTMNY Board of Directors and the Young Benefactors Executive Committee. “We’re really looking forward to our other events throughout the year and for many years to come!”
Created in 2009, the Young Benefactors is a network of active young professionals dedicated to the mission of The First Tee of Metropolitan New York. The group supports TFTMNY by conducting fundraising events and community and volunteer efforts to raise local awareness about the First Tee. This was the second of six Young Benefactors events taking place during 2011. The first event kicked off the 2011 season in January at Drive 495 in Manhattan.
Upcoming events include Volunteer Day at TFTMNY headquarters at Mosholu Golf Course on May 14, a Member-Guest tournament—also at Mosholu—on June 30, and dates are to be announced for an event held in conjunction with the PGA Tour’s Barclays tournament at Plainfield Country Club in Edison, N.J., as well as for the Year-End Celebration. For more information and to join The First Tee Young Benefactors, click here.
