MGA SEASON KICKS OFF WITH SENIOR NET FOUR-BALL
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (April 26, 2007) - The 2007 MGA championship season officially kicks off on Thursday, May 3rd with the 15th MGA Senior Net Four-Ball Tournament. Last year’s champions, Greg Horgan of Saxony and Daniel LoParco of Pelham Bay/Split Rock, will be on hand to defend their title at High Mountain Golf Club in Franklin Lakes, N.J.
In addition to Horgan and LoParco, the Senior Net will feature two other former champions. Andrew Foppiano (2004) of Shore View, who will team up with Jack Fagan of Shore View, and Peter Rubeo (2002) of Mohansic, who will be on hand with his teammate Richard Abramo of Mohansic.
High Mountain GC joins a group of well-respected MGA clubs as host of the Senior Net, including Engineers, Montclair, Burning Tree and Glen Ridge. After a complete course remodeling in 1998, High Mountain should present a challenging and enjoyable tournament for the competitors.
The Senior Net, which began in 1993, draws players who have reached their 50th birthday and who hold a current USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 18.0. Unlike the MGA/MetLife Men’s Net Team, teammates do not have to be from the same club. Prizes are awarded to the top four finishers in the net score category and the top finisher in the gross score category. In the event’s history, their has never been a two-time winner of the low net category.
