MGA LAUNCHES CHARITY EVENT SERVICE
The golf season in the Met Area includes hundreds of charity golf tournaments, and now there is a way to connect golfers looking to play in an event with organizations who want to get the word out. Charity Corner, a new feature on the Metropolitan Golf Association’s official Web site,www.mgagolf.org, allows Met Area golfers to search for a charity tournament at dozens of highly regarded golf courses in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. At the same time, Charity Corner will help charities publicize their events for a nominal fee.
The idea for Charity Corner grew out of the many requests fielded by the MGA from both charities and golfers. Charity events serve as an important source of fundraising for dozens of worthy causes, and a high level of participation is needed to make the events successful. In turn, many charity events are held at private MGA member clubs, providing golfers a chance to play a course to which they might not otherwise have access. Serving the needs of both charities and golfers, Charity Corner is sure to be a popular stop for all users of www.mgagolf.org, a site which averages more than 2.5 million page views each season.
