Ken Malloy and Gail Flanagan Capture 40th MGA Mixed Pinehurst Championship
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.-Ken Malloy and former New York State Women’s Amateur champion, Gail Flannagan, both of Westchester Country Club, shot a spectacular 6-under-par 65 (35 – 30) to beat out defending champions Michael Karger of Century and Gale Brudner of Metropolis, who shot 70 (32 – 38), to capture the Low Gross honors in the 40th MGA Mixed Pinehurst Championship today at Metropolis Country Club in White Plains, NY. The victory comes exactly a decade after Flanagan’s first MGA Mixed Pinehurst Championship in 1993 with partner John Lewis Jr.. Stephen and Maguerite Shloss of Edgewood shot a net 63 (75 – 12) to claim Low Net honors.
Monday’s Championship was scored over 18 holes of stroke play and had players competing at 40% of their team’s combined course handicap. Prizes were awarded to the four low teams in each division.
