West Orange, N.J.--Former Champion Michael McBride and son Michael Jr. of Arcola CC teamed up and shot a 3-under par 68 to capture the 51^st MGA Father & Son (Gross) Championship today at Essex County Country Club in West Orange, NJ.  McBride’s first Father and Son title was in 1970 with his father Joseph, the 1949 Met Amateur Champion, who had also claimed 3 other Father and Son titles in ’64, ’65, and ’66 with son, Terry.   

In the Net Division, Stanley and Marc Friedman of Dellwood CC shot a 67 (74 – 7) to claim the low net score from an original field of 120 father and son pairs. 

An 18-hole pinehurst format was used to decide the Gross Division and the players competed at 40% of their combined handicap to decide the Net Division.
