ST. ANDREWS GC--The 2000 MGA Tournament season kicked off in dramatic fashion as the Rutgers University team came from an eleven shot morning deficit to capture its first MGA Intercollegiate Championship in over 25 years.  Rutgers heroic finish was good enough to edge out St. John’s University, leaders after the morning 18, on a spectacular day at historic St. Andrews Golf Club in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY.  

Andrew Svoboda of St. John’s, the former MGA Junior Champion and reigning Ike team champion, emerged as the individual medalist, posting an impressive score of 145 (69-76), to outlast Rutgers Shawn Hughes by a single stroke
