ELMSFORD, N.Y. (August 12, 2013) – On Wednesday, August 7 a group of 32 enthusiastic junior golfers enjoyed VIP treatment during a day at
MetLife Stadium and Giants Training Camp for the second MGA/MetLife Youth Clinic of the summer. The participants spent the morning at The First Tee of Metropolitan New York's Essex County site where they learned golf and life skills at Weequahic Park in Newark, N.J.When they arrived to the stadium, the group was greeted by Director of Sport and Blimp Promotions Steve Sulavik before going on a guided tour of MetLife Stadium, which unlike any other NFL facility, is home to two NFL franchises, the New York Jets and New York Giants. In addition, MetLife Stadium hosts world class concerts, college football, International soccer and many other timeless events, including Super Bowl XLVIII scheduled for February 2, 2014. The youngsters took a walk through a room full of New York Giants history followed by access to the MetLife Club Suite and the exclusive and luxurious Commissioner’s Club.
After the tour, the young golfers proceeded to the Timex Performance Center where they got an up close look at some of the world’s finest athletes during New York Giants Training Camp. The kids enjoyed lunch in the VIP Tent and let out a booming cheer when quarterback Eli Manning hooked up with wide receiver Victor Cruz for a big play. The day was filled with lots of smiles, which grew even bigger after practice when some Giants players stopped by to greet, take photos and sign autographs, including quarterback Manning and Curtis Painter, receivers Hakeem Nicks and Ramses Barden, and kicker Josh Brown.
A fun day was had by all during an experience made possible by MetLife, a longtime partner of the MGA and MGA Foundation. The event was the second in a series of youth clinics conducted annually by the MGA Foundation and MetLife. The next clinic will be held at Old Westbury Golf & Country Club in conjunction with the 98th Met Open Championship on Monday, August 19.
