ELMSFORD, N.Y. (February 26, 2008) – The MGA Foundation has announced the 2008 Spring Educational Forums schedule. These programs feature presentations by industry experts that are designed to educate club leaders and the golfing public about a wide range of topics of interest including the Rules of Golf, handicapping procedures and new technology.

The annual MGA Rules and Handicap Seminars, the first of which takes place on Saturday, March 8 at Montclair Golf Club in West Orange, N.J., provides a refresher course for the handicap system as well as the Rules of Golf. Montclair is followed by two other seminars, on Saturday, March 15 at the Cherry Valley Club in Garden City, N.Y., and on Saturday, March 29 at the Apawamis Club in Rye, N.Y. MGA. The 2008 Green Chairman Education Series, hosted by the MGA Foundation in conjunction with the USGA Green Section, is scheduled for Thursday, March 27 at Wheatley Hills Golf Club in East Williston, N.Y. An impressive roster of speakers will address a variety of turfgrass-related issues. Dr. John Kaminski of the University of Connecticut will discuss ways to combat turfgrass disease, and Jim Skorulski of the Northeast Region of the USGA Green Section will present solutions for sustainable golf course management in a tight economy. Two representatives from Tavistock Country Club in New Jersey, board member Robert Creighton and superintendent Tom Grimac, will update the highly ambitious renovation project at that club. In a related topic, David Oatis, Director of the Northeast Region of the USGA Green Section, will address the potential challenges of golf course renovation projects. The seminar will be followed by the MGA Club Environmental Award Luncheon.
