ELMSFORD, N.Y. (October 15, 2025) — The MGA team will take a 5.5 – 4.5 lead into the 12 final singles matches at Portmarnock Golf Club in Ireland following Day 1 of the 18th Carey Cup against Golf Ireland.

Team MGA took a 3.5 – 1.5 lead following the opening Foursomes, with international team rookies Rayee Feng of Fiddler’s Elbow and Hana Ku of Meadow Brook and veterans Catherine McEvoy of Innis Arden and Ina Kim-Schaad of Deepdale taking commanding victories by 6-and-4 and 6-and-5 margins, respectively.
Christian Cavaliere of Hudson National and Chris DeJohn of Arcola captured the lone full point in the three men’s matches, earning a 5-and-3 victory, while Darin Goldstein of Deepdale and MGA eClub – Long Island member Matt Lowe tied the anchor match for a half point.
In the afternoon Four-Ball matches, the women’s duos continued their winning ways. This time Feng and another first-time international team competitor Corinna Limbocker of Tuxedo took a 3-and-2 win, while McEvoy and Kim-Schaad edged their competitors, 1 up.
The hosts captured all three men’s matches to keep the overall match tight heading into Friday’s final session, where the singles matches are all set. The 17-year-old Feng will lead off the matches, looking to continue her team competition success after having been part of the successful Junior Ryder Cup squad last month at Nassau Country Club. Kim-Schaad, the recent U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur champion, anchors the women’s lineup before veteran Brad Tilley of Sleepy Hollow leads off the seven men’s matches, with 2025 Connecticut Amateur winner Adam Friedman in the final spot.
The MGA is aiming to extend its possession of the Cup, having won or maintained it since 2019. Though Ireland still owns the 8-6-3 edge in overall record, the MGA has held the upper hand as of late, going 4-1-2 since 2011.
