The senior division tees off first, with Bob Beck of Lehigh Country Club (Pa.) taking on Ned Zachar of GlenArbor. Beck defeated Scott Mackesy of Winged Foot, 3 and 1, while Zachar overcame a two hole deficit with two to play and outlasted Stanwich’s own Al Lefevre in 19 holes.

The men’s mid-amateur division will feature David Kitt of Ireland and John Lazor of Oyster Harbors Club (Mass.). Kitt bested MGA eClub – CT member Thomas McCarthy, 4 and 3, as he kept McCarthy off the board for the match. Lazor had a back and forth match with Rij Patel, but had the hot streak at the end, winning 13 and Nos. 15-17 for the 3-and-1 victory.

In the women’s mid-amateur division, Ina Kim-Schaad of Deepdale will square off against defending champion Lauren Greenlief of International Country Club (Va.) in a matchup of past U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur champions. Kim-Schaad, who played 46 holes on Saturday with two extra-hole matches, defeated 2025 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur champion Kimberly Dinh of Midland Country Club (Mich.), 4 and 3. Greenlief held off Corinna Limbocker of Tuxedo, 2 and 1.

The Farrell, conducted by the MGA in partnership with The Stanwich Club, honors the legacy of longtime Stanwich head professional Billy Farrell. Farrell was Stanwich’s first-ever head professional and set a high standard in all aspects of the profession. He held the role from 1964 until 2000 and passed away in 2020 at the age of 85.

Farrell believed that a tournament should be highly competitive, be conducted in a professional manner, contain an elite field, and provide lifelong memories. The event welcomes competitors in three divisions – Men’s Mid-Amateur, Women’s Mid-Amateur, and Men’s Senior – to compete over 18 holes of stroke play, with the top 16 finishers advancing to match play to determine a champion over the weekend.
