Casler Leads Final Qualifiers for Long Island Open

WOODMERE, N.Y. (May 17, 2018) – A round of 4-under 66 at The Woodmere Club earned amateur Jack Casler of Garden City CC medalist honors at the final Long Island Open Championship qualifier. A total of 15 competitors advanced to the June 5-7 championship which will be held at Nassau Country Club.

Jeremy Quinn of Seawane finished two shots behind with a round of 2-under 68, while amateur Jack Bori of The Bridge rounded out the top three finishers with a card of even-par 70.

Tyler Foxx of Glen Oaks, amateur Craig Brewer of Southward Ho and Colby Lewis of Southampton safely qualified thanks to rounds of 1-over 71.

Seven competitors earned their spots in the championship after finishing at 2-over-par 72: Hyuncheol Lee of Harbor Links, Jacob Troyer of Friar’s Head, amateur Nick DeMeo, Jr. of Wheatley Hills, amateur Jacob Fain of Village Club at Sands Point, Kevin Loftus of Huntington Crescent, Ryan Ilardi of Garden City CC, and Michael Weinert of Fresh Meadow.

With the top 14 finishers and ties earning spots in the Long Island Open, the final two spots were earned by John Yu of Harbor Links and amateur Jon Sherman of Port Jefferson with rounds of 3-over 73.

Woodmere was set up as a par 70 at 6,452 yards and competitors had to cope with a five hour delay due to heavy morning rain.
