SCARSDALE, N.Y. (June 17, 2025) – Olivia Deakins of Ardsley used a 2-under par 71 in Tuesday’s final round to win the 23rd Women’s Met Amateur Championship at Sunningdale Country Club. Deakins, who carded a championship-low 4-under 69 in the morning 18, finished at 2-under par overall to stand as the lone player in red figures after the 54-hole event.

“I didn’t put too much pressure on myself to win the tournament,” said Deakins. “I knew I had the game to come out here and play well, and went out there and had fun. It’s an honor to join the amazing women who have won this event. I hope to come back and defend my title next year.”
Deakins – who competed three years at Florida’s Saint Leo University and will complete her college career at University of Minnesota – started the final round strong with four birdies on her opening nine. The 20-year-old worked around a double bogey on No. 4 with birdies on Nos. 5, 7, and 9. The birdie on the par-4 ninth moved her to 2-under and earned her the solo lead, a lead she would not relinquish. Deakins moved to 3-under par after a tap-in birdie on No. 12 before giving one back with a bogey on the par-5 16th.
“On 12, I hit a full pitching wedge,” noted Deakins. “Right when I hit it, I knew it was good. It bounced behind the pin and almost went in and left me with a 2-footer for birdie.”
Deakins led the field with 15 birdies over the three rounds and tied for the least number of bogeys, doubles, and triples with eight. Twelve of those 15 birdies came in the second and third rounds on Tuesday, which was delayed by an hour due to heavy fog.
“I didn’t let the doubles and triples affect me,” said Deakins. “I kept looking forward. It was all about bouncing back. I had a bunch of par saves that allowed me to stay in the tournament. That helped me after making a mistake.”
Claire Lu of Youth on Course – MGA and Ian Kim-Schaad shared second place at even par, two shots back of Deakins. Lu recorded her second straight 1-under par 72 in round three, highlighted by five birdies. Kim-Schaad, who led by one shot after round two, carded a 1-over par 74 in the afternoon. Kim-Schaad got back to even par for her round with birdies on Nos. 11 and 13 but gave one right back on No. 14. Down the stretch, the three-time champion of the event had birdie opportunities on Nos. 16, 17, and 18 but could not convert.
Rounding out the top five were Corinna Limbocker of Tuxedo at 1-over par and Jenelle Valera of Royce Brook at 3-over par.

By welcoming the 23rd Women’s Met Amateur, Sunningdale continued its longstanding history of supporting amateur golf. It was hosting the championship for the first time. The layout, which executed a long-term master plan from 2006-2016 led by architect Mike DeVries. The work focused on restoring the strategic elements of the original course, with new green complexes completing the project in 2016.
Since 2012, the championship has been co-administered between the MGA and the Women’s Metropolitan Golf Association (WMGA), who established the event in 2002 for competitive amateur women’s golfers in the Met Area. In 2024, the MGA took on an enhanced leadership role in both administering and conducting the Women’s Met Amateur Championship, with collaboration and support continuing from the WMGA.
