GLEN HEAD, N.Y. (October 28, 2025) — A cold and blustery day set the stage for the opening round of the Arthur Weber Memorial Senior Amateur Championship sponsored by Kamco Supply Corp. at Glen Head Country Club, where steady play and patience proved essential on the challenging layout.

Leading the Gross Division after the first round is David Segot of Nassau Country Club, who posted a strong 2-over 73 to take a two-stroke lead heading into the final day. Segot’s round was highlighted by a birdie on the par-4 seventh and a remarkable hole-in-one on No. 16, a moment that drew cheers from the gallery and helped separate him from the field.
Trailing close behind is Thomas Trakoval of Port Jefferson Country Club at Harbor Hills, finishing with a 4-over 75. Trakoval closed out his round in impressive fashion, carding two birdies on the back nine to move into contention. Glen Head Country Club’s own Edward Gibstein also made a strong impression, playing his home course 1-under on the back nine with three birdies to stay within striking distance.
In the Senior Net Division, Harry McCabe of Rockville Links Club leads the field after an even-par net 71, edging Segot by a single stroke. McCabe’s round was highlighted by a birdie on the par-4 18th, giving him a narrow advantage heading into the final round.
Among the senior categories, Dennis Lynch of Baiting Hollow Golf & Country Club leads the Super Senior Gross Division with a 5-over 76. While Tom Roden of Bethpage State Park Golf Club tops the Super Senior Net Division after a 1-under 70, capped off by a chip-in par on his final hole. In the Legend Division, Thomas Trakoval leads for Gross with his 4-over 75, while James Miller of Bridgeview Golf Club at Clearview Golf Course lead the Net Division with a 2-over 73.
The cut was set at 11-over 82, with nineteen golfers advancing to compete for the championship title in tomorrow’s final round.
