Old Westbury, N.Y. (October 22, 2021) – It came down to a playoff to determine the 2021 Arthur Weber Memorial Senior Amateur Championship after David Boccia of Huntington and Billy Byrnes of Nassau Players both carded 36-hole totals of 3-over at Old Westbury Golf and Country Club.

Boccia closed it out with a par on the first playoff hole to add his name to the trophy. Boccia had rounds of 75-72 over the two day tournament while Byrnes recorded scores of 74-73.
Boccia credited Friday’s success to cleaning up his putts and remaining consistent with his driver. “Yesterday I didn’t putt all that well and today I putted really well and I hit almost every fairway so I was able to stay out of trouble all day,” the champion said. “Yesterday [Thursday] was my first time playing the course, so I was just trying to hit it in the middle of the greens. Some of the pins were really difficult with the undulation so I was aiming for the middle of the greens and sometimes they would roll the right way.”
Boccia, a member at Huntington, lives on the 10th hole and described how he used that to his advantage going into Friday’s round. “Like I do most nights, last night I took out my dog and did some putting and felt a little something good that helped me today and I managed to putt really well. I had one three putt which is really not bad here today, and I managed to make all of my 5 footers so I guess last night something clicked for me.”
