Seniors move on to 28th Lexus MGA Senior Open

LAWRENCE, N.Y. (July 15, 2024) -- Chul Sim of River Vale led the field at the qualifier for the 28th Lexus MGA Senior Championship at Lawrence Yacht and Country Club with an impressive 7-under 64. Sim's round was highlighted by a stretch of six birdies on the front nine and three more on the back, securing his position at the top of the leaderboard.

Following was Shawn Baker of Met PGA, who posted a 3-under 68 round that featured four birdies and a remarkable eagle on the fifth hole. Michael Cochrane of Longshore, Merrick McQuilling of Garden City Golf Club, and Harry McCabe of Rockville Links were the top qualifying amateurs, each finishing at 2-under 69.

Overall, the qualifier saw strong performances across the board, with ten players scoring under par and a total of 59 players, including 39 amateurs, advancing to the championship hosted at The Seawane Club in Hewlett Harbor, N.Y.
