This type of donation to the MGA Foundation in your will or living trust is a unique and special way to ensure that the MGA Foundation continues its mission for years to come.
Legacy Giving Opportunities
Wills/Bequests: The most common form of a deferred gift to the MGA Foundation is a bequest contained in a person’s will or revocable (living) trust.
Life Insurance: When a new or existing policy names the MGA as owner or beneficiary of your policy, all subsequent premium payments become tax-deductible contributions.
Charitable Remainder Annuity Trusts and Unitrusts: The structure of these trusts can allow you to make a gift during your lifetime and continue to receive income for yourself and/or beneficiaries. After the life interest has passed, the remaining principal will help the MGA Foundation. Donors can receive a tax deduction in the year the trust is established, can avoid capital gains, and reduce estate and gift taxes.
Gifts of Retirement Plans: Naming the MGA as a primary or contingent beneficiary of a retirement plan (IRA, SEP, 401(k), 403(b), ESOP, etc.) may enable you to make a larger gift than you anticipated as income and estate taxes may not be imposed when plan assets are distributed to the MGA. Your retirement account plan administrator can help you designate the MGA as a primary or contingent beneficiary on the plan’s beneficiary plan.
Bequest Language: Planning for the future and creating the legacy you wish to leave is one of the most effective ways to ensure a lasting impact. Making a gift in your will or living trust, known as a bequest, can guarantee that your legacy endures. Your gift may be a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder after all other provisions are specified. Our federal tax ID number is 13-3637689.
Sample Language: For an unrestricted gift that allows the MGA to determine how to use the funds based on the most pressing needs, use the following language for your will and/or trust:
“I give to the MGA Foundation, a nonprofit corporation currently located at 49 Knollwood Road, Elmsford, N.Y. 10523, or its successor thereto, [written amount or percentage of the estate or description of property] for its unrestricted charitable use and purpose.”
To designate your provision for a particular purpose:
“I give to the MGA Foundation, a nonprofit corporation currently located at 49 Knollwood Road, Elmsford, N.Y. 10523, or its successor thereto, [written amount or percentage of the estate or description of property]. This gift should be used for [state purpose] if and so long as the MGA Foundation determines that the need exists. If the MGA Foundation shall determine at the outset or at a later time that the need does not exist, or no longer exists or for some reason, it is not possible (or prudent) to administer my gift as originally intended, then the MGA Foundation may, in its sole and uncontrolled discretion, direct the use of my bequest for a purpose related as closely as possible to that stated above.”
