ELMSFORD, N.Y. (May 22, 2023) — The 101st Westchester Open Championship Presented by Poland Spring will take place June 13-14 at The Whippoorwill Club in Armonk, N.Y. While top competitors from last year’s event are exempt to the championship, the remainder of the field will be filled through a pair of qualifiers.

May 22 – Waccabuc Country Club, Waccabuc, N.Y.
A total of 58 players advanced to The Whippoorwill Club, with amateur Andrew Lord of Hudson Hills and Ian Illig of Rockrimmon leading the way with 2-under 68s. Amateurs Ethan Alexander of Wykagyl and Jonathan Oakes of Ardsley as well as professionals Philip Servider of Ardsley and Kyle Baehler of Rye all carded 1-under 69s to round out those posting sub-par rounds. Amateurs Jack Maguire and former NHL hockey player Alex Kovalev stood out as two Whippoorwill representatives that qualified for the championship proper at their home club, both shooting 4-over 74s to sit one inside the cut number.

Korn Ferry Tour player James Nicholas of Westchester set the pace at Spook Rock, firing a 6-under 66 to earn medalist honors by four shots. The past MGA Player of the Year went bogey free, leading 21 total qualifiers to Whippoorwill Club. Amateurs Joseph Capano of Leewood and Harrison Blech of Spook Rock carded 2-under 70s, with Kyle Leeds of Burning Tree posting 1-under 71 as the final players to shoot under-par.
