MGA Holds Educational Forums at Area Clubs

March 23, 2011 – The MGA Foundation’s 2011 Spring Educational Forums feature programs designed to educate club leaders and the golfing public about a wide range of topics of interest including the Rules of Golf, Handicapping procedures, golf course maintenance and new technology. The seminars include presentations by golf professionals, golf course superintendents and other industry experts.

Always one of the most popular events of the year, the MGA/Met PGA Rules Workshop will be held on Wednesday, March 30 at Winged Foot Golf Club, Mamaroneck, N.Y. While open to the public, this seminar is designed to attract people who are deeply interested in the Rules of Golf. Calling all club Handicap chairmen: The annual MGA Handicap and Rules Seminars, the first of which takes place on Saturday, March 19 at Montclair Golf Club in West Orange, N.J., provide a refresher course for the Handicap system as well as the Rules of Golf. Montclair is followed by two other seminars, on Saturday, April 2, at the Apawamis Club in Rye, N.Y., and at the Cherry Valley Club in Garden City, N.Y., on Saturday, April 9. The 2011 Green Chairman Education Series, hosted by the MGA Foundation in conjunction with the USGA Green Section, occurred on Tuesday, March 22 at Wheatley Hills Golf Club in East Williston, N.Y. An impressive roster of speakers addressed a variety of turfgrass-related issues as well as offered tips for club officials and superintendents to manage their budgets. The seminar was followed by a luncheon featuring the presentation of the Arthur P. Weber Club Environmental Leadership Award.
