ELMSFORD, N.Y. (May 14, 2026) — Several Met Area players will tee it up in the 11th U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship, which takes place at Desert Mountain Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., May 16-20. The championship will be contested on the Cochise course, with the Desert course serving as the stroke-play co-host.

The familiar duo of Darin Goldstein of New York, N.Y., and Trevor Randolph of Franklin Lakes, N.J., earned medalist honors last fall at Paramount Country Club in New City, N.Y., with a 9-under 61. The pair, both past MGA Mid-Amateur champions and frequent partners on MGA international teams in the past, have played together in the championship in 2018, 2021, and 2023. They advanced to match play in 2018. In 2015 Randolph played with Keith Unikel of Potomac, Md., advancing to match play. Both players are off to strong starts in the 2026 season, with Goldstein finishing as runner-up in the Havemeyer Invitational at Southward Ho and Randolph winning the Richardson Memorial at Wheatley Hills.
In the same qualifier, Christopher Schwab of Massapequa, N.Y., teamed up with Brendan Sweeney of New York, N.Y., advancing to the championship after carding a 4-under 66.
Brothers Sam and Will Bernstein of New York, N.Y., qualified at Spring Lake Golf Club in Spring Lake, N.J., posting an 8-under 64. The brothers will compete for the championship title for the fourth time. The sibling side played together in the 2021, 2022, and 2025, and are seeking their first run into match play. Sam paired up with Greg Shuman of New York, N.Y., in 2015 and 2016 in the championship. The brothers are longtime Met Area competitors and both had decorated college careers at Yale.
Former Fairfield University teammates Richard Dowling of Shelton, Conn., and tow-time WGA Mid-Amateur champion Nick Taylor of New York, N.Y., qualified last October at Race Brook Country Club in Orange, Conn., after carding a 4-under 67. The duo also teamed up in 2024 for the championship.
At Richmond County Country Club in Staten Island N.Y., Bryce Karty of Port Washington, N.Y. and Bryan Zhao of Jericho, N.Y., qualified with a score of 5-under 67. Karty, a former LIGA Boys’ champion, currently plays golf at Stevens Institute of Technology while Zhao currently plays at New York University.
Finally, Ryan Smith of Jersey City, N.J., will pair up with former University of Wisconsin teammate Robert Morway of Mequon, Wisc., The pair advanced from Union League National Golf Club in Swanton, N.J., last fall after shooting 7under 65.
Stroke play takes place over two days, with 18 holes played both May 16 and 17. Match play begins with the Round of 32 on Monday, May 18, with two rounds slated for Tuesday, May 19. Both the semifinals and championship match are scheduled for Wednesday, May 20.
