ELMSFORD, N.Y. (February 14, 2024) — The 101st Long Island Open Championship Presented by Stifel highlights the 2025 Long Island Golf Association schedule, with the event taking place at Rockaway Hunting Club in Lawrence, N.Y., June 3-5. The slate of incredible host clubs for 2025 events also includes Huntington Country Club, Long Island National Golf Club, and Colonial Springs Golf Club, among others.

The Richardson Memorial Championship Sponsored by Keystone Electronics Corp. once again kicks off the season, taking place May 1-3 at Wheatley Hills Golf Club in East Williston, N.Y. The invitational will crown champions in both a championship and senior division.
The Long Island Open comes next, with qualifying taking place May 16 at Bethpage State Park’s Red Course and another location that is to be announced. Rockaway Hunting Club is the oldest club on Long Island and one of the oldest clubs in the U.S., founded in 1878, with the course being completed in 1916. This marks just the second time the Open heads to the historic club and the first since 1964.
Later in the month the Women’s Amateur Stroke Play Championship this year shifts to the Blue Course at Bethpage State Park, June 18-19. This year the championship adds a sponsor and will be presented by Michael Hebron. Hebron, a past PGA of America Teacher of the Year, has been a guiding figure for golf on Long Island for decades and now officially supports both the Women’s Amateur Stroke Play and his namesake Amateur championship. With the Ryder Cup at Bethpage this fall, the 2025 Michael Hebron Amateur Championship will not be held at Bethpage Black. Montauk Downs State Park will step in as host on September 30, with the championship being modified to a one day, 18-hole event. It will return to Bethpage and its traditional 36-hole format in 2026.
The season’s most grueling test comes next, with the 102nd Long Island Amateur Championship Presented by Webster Bank taking place at Huntington Country Club from July 7-11. This will be the fourth playing of the Amateur at the club with the first taking place in 1985 and most recently in 2013, when reigning player of the year Matt Lowe won the title. Following 18 holes of stroke play qualifying the top 32 golfers advance to match play. The champion is determined from a 36-hole final.
After a quiet span during the schedule, the back end of the season kicks off with the 2025 Long Island Mid-Amateur Championship Sponsored by JBA-Morell taking place at Long Island National Golf Club, September 16-17.
The Long Island Senior Open Championship Sponsored by Steve Madden heads to Colonial Springs Golf Club in East Farmingdale, N.Y., October 14-15.
The season wraps up with its traditional lineup, the Arthur Weber Memorial Senior Amateur Championship at Old Westbury Golf & Country Club in Old Westbury, N.Y., October 17-18 and the George Sands Memorial Four-Ball Championship at North Shore Country Club in Glen Head, N.Y., on October 21.
Members of Long Island clubs and courses may also compete for LIGA division titles in the Metropolitan Golf Association’s Father & Son Championship (July 14, Harrison Meadows), Parent-Child Championship (July 21, New Jersey National) and Mixed Pinehurst Championship (August 6, Cold Spring Country Club) during the 2025 season.
Details for several qualifiers will be announced later, while championship registration will open on March 3 at 10 a.m., once again on the Golf Genius platform.
